* Suicide Memorial Book *

We do not allow solicitation in the group, but I am going to put an announcement I made to the on-line groups here, in hopes that some of you may choose to participate in this wonderful project. (Which is not a fund-raiser.)

It's official. We (The POS-FFOS Internet Community) are working on the creation of a new memorial book, with hopes of getting it published this year.

WHAT IS A MEMORIAL BOOK?

Imagine a high school yearbook filled with pages of memorials, each one in beautiful color - to the people who died by suicide. Imagine one of those pages being a memorial to your son or daughter or friend or family member.
Imagine pages of 'gallery' photos of the people who died by suicide, looking healthy, happy, humorous, serious, being themselves.
Imagine pages of special inspiration, suicide awareness, education and prevention information - and more.

Imagine all of this put together in one gorgeous hard-back book, so that you have something very special to hold on to, to share, to show off, and to know that the person you lost to suicide is memorialized in a real book.
That's what the memorial book is.

HOW DO WE GET MEMORIALS PUT IN THE BOOK?

Send a note to me at [email protected] and ask for a memorial order form, and I will e-mail it to you.

PRICES? WHAT? YOU MEAN MEMORIALS ARE NOT FREE?

We have it set up for a gallery photo to cost $10, a half page memorial to cost $50 and a complete memorial page to cost $100.

HOW WILL IT WORK TO GET MEMORIAL PAGES DONE?

After you mail your order, if you let me know, I will go on and get your name in the queue, so that one of our designers can start working on a memorial page for you.

You'll need to provide photos for it, basic information, and directions to let the designer know what you want. She will create the page and work on it until you are satisfied.

WHO CAN ORDER MEMORIAL PAGES?

As long as the person died by suicide, there can be a memorial for them in this book.

WHO IS GOING TO DO ALL OF THE WORK ON THE MEMORIAL?

We have some great volunteers who have gotten together and formed a Memorial Book team. Some of them are designers, and they will design the memorials. Some of them have other talents that they will put to use on the other pages, etc.

They are mostly people from POS and FFOS, however, if you know if a designer who would DONATE time to the project and help, we could use a few more, so please pass this message and my email address on to whomever.

WHAT WILL THE BOOK LOOK LIKE?

Right now, we can only show you what the 2005 book looked like. This one will be different. We'll have a voting process in the groups to pick the name and to choose the best cover design submitted.
