This is a reminder that the mission of this board is suicide grief support.
We are not qualified to help people deal with suicidal thoughts, so we cannot allow suicidal messages to be posted.
Anyone who is having suicidal thoughts needs to find someone in their community to help them, or they should call 1-800-273-8255, the suicide hotline, if they live in the US.
Unfortunately, messages from suicidal people can bring up memories for some of us that may re-traumatize. Because of the anonymous nature of this board, we are not able to get emergency help to people who are struggling. The helpless feeling of reading suicidal messages while being helpless to stop the person could cause immeasurable harm to the people who come to this board hoping to find grief support.
If someone posts a suicidal message on this board (even an indirectly suicidal message), please let the monitors know immediately, or contact me at email@example.com so we can deal with the situation.
If you are feeling suicidal or thinking about taking your life, there is help available. Sadly we here are not professionals and are not equipped to help suicidal persons. Help is available 24 hours a day at the hotline number listed at the top of every page.
Please note that we remove all messages that have suicidal ideation or content in them, so our members are not unintentionally re-traumatized by reading them.
This is part of the agreement signed when you register for the board.
