What can we do to change this? How can they cut medicaid for these people?
Just taking it day by day. I miss you, Dad.

I don't understand either daybyday..
the government cut funding here one day out of the blue and I lost my psychologist appointments until next February.
She is an amazing woman and helped me so much ...
I was in the middle of a 'crisis' (total breakdown) when they did that..
I can't even begin to say how I feel about the way people with mental health issues are treated because I would be banned from here!
When I see how much money governments waste or give a way I get so upset..
it could be better used in the treatment of Mental Health..

I took part in a survey by an esteemed charity that provides post-vention suicide support in Oz to a significant percentage of those in need (but yes, the tentacles don't always reach into rural areas). It was aimed at pinning down the financial repercussions. I guess it was a necessary arrow in their appeal for government funding. The funny thing is, here in Oz, we have had a huge government backed push in the last few years, for mental health to be recognised as a health issue - simply that, a health issue like any other, and deserving of funding support. The recent cuts to the number of subsidised appts for counselling/psychologist (from 18 per year to 10 per year) leave a lot of people in limbo...and a month between appts is a long time when one is in a state of ongoing crisis. Many are probably able to move on to other group or community support, but many may also need continued one on one support. Cutting that ongoing access is a turn-around, so puzzling, even in light of the WFC belt tightening....and it compounds the problems.
