Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp Event
Event: Suicide Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp Dates: Friday, October 08, 2010 Saturday, October 09, 2010 Sunday, October 10, 2010 Location: Washington DC ** Tentative - more information to come http://www.taps.org/eventCalendar.aspx?id=8167&r=152 I attended this event last year when it was in October. I cannot express enough to you in words how helpful this event was. Almost my entire family got to go all expenses paid. They catered to each type of relationship to the person we lost and it meant so much for my youngest brother and I to be able to go to a sibling group and talk since we lived in separate states when we lost our brother. There were art projects, writing seminars, grief counselors and peer mentors all there for the grieving families. It was truly an honor to be chosen to go and if you can, keep an eye on TAPS's website to check on updates, as I will to post on here, attend this! It doesnt matter how long ago you've lost someone, it doesnt matter what relationship you had, friends are even encouraged to go. And if you are not familiar with TAPS, they are a wonderful organization who helps all survivors of loss of a loved in who has served in the armed forces. This organization contacted me and sent a card thinking of me and my family on our angel dates when I didn't even hear from some of my best friends. I hope you can find this as rewarding as my family has, there is no way I could have made it this far as well as I have without them. ABOUT TAPS Caring for the families of the fallen...
